🧠 From chat to app: Claude’s new AI Artifacts

In brief: Claude’s latest update introduces a powerful upgrade—you can now easily create interactive mini-apps you can use and share. This means that you can build tools that your teams, or your customers can explore, use, or modify—without needing to know how to code. Whether it’s a training module, or a cognitive game, these creations are now living apps that function beyond the chat window. See below for tools and case studies, but please note that you will need the paid version of Claude to create your own.
The details:
There are quite a few tools already available for inspiration. These include a Meeting Notes Summary app (a great little tool!), a Word Cloud Maker, a Writing Assistant and a Join Dots Game. You can edit the existing tools, or you can create your own in minutes.
To create one, just go to the Artifacts section and describe your idea to Claude.
Answer Claude’s questions and upload relevant documents. When you’re ready, ask Claude to bring your app to life.
You can then choose to create a shareable link to share with your team or clients.
Some tools I created:
Aged Care Standards Training Game: An interactive tool designed to help staff learn and apply Australia’s Aged Care Quality Standards through quizzes. It can support training as an engaging, game-based learning experience that can be customised for different roles and care settings. (To view the prompt I used, click on “Customise Artifact” - you will need a paid version of Claude.)
Margaret’s Curious Day:
Inspired by my second visit to St. Anna’s residential care facility (which I write about in the community section of the newsletter), I created an interactive storytelling game designed specifically for aged care residents. The game follows Margaret, a sharp-witted, adventurous woman in her 80s who lives in a fictitious ABC Aged Care home. Players guide Margaret through a light-hearted, whimsical narrative, making choices that shape her journey—whether she’s following a trail of glitter, uncovering secrets behind closed doors, or discovering unexpected worlds just beyond the hallway. The game is simple, humorous, PG13, and designed to be engaging and endlessly replayable.

Why it matters: For aged care professionals, this opens up exciting potential to co-design digital tools that support wellbeing, cognitive stimulation, or staff training. Claude makes personalised AI apps both accessible and collaborative.
ON THE HORIZON
🧠 Tech disruptors in aged care: what’s driving change?

In brief: KPMG just released their 2025 Aged Care Market Analysis, which highlights how digital platforms and self-managed care models are reshaping the sector—creating space for agile, tech-powered providers.
The details:
The new Support at Home program supports more flexible self-management and a tiered provider registration system.
Technology-first providers like Trilogy Care, HomeMade Support, and Five Good Friends are growing rapidly by cutting admin fees and increasing consumer control.
Trilogy Care’s success is closely tied to heavy investment in digital infrastructure and marketing strategies.
According to the report, the first “key consideration” for providers is to “evaluate their current operating models – identify opportunities for additional value, particularly through technology integration and artificial intelligence”.
There's a visible shift toward low-cost, tech-enabled contractor models that use platforms to connect clients with care workers efficiently.
Why it matters: The aged care landscape is undergoing structural transformation. Digital and AI-aligned tools are enabling smaller providers to scale quickly without legacy infrastructure. This is increasing competition, encouraging consolidation, and moving the sector away from traditional residential care. The future of aged care will likely depend on how well providers leverage tech for personalisation, cost-efficiency, and streamlined service delivery.
QUICK HITS
🔍 Coming from India, Milaap Setu is a new AI tool using facial recognition to reconnect missing older adults—especially those with dementia—with their families. Shelters upload photos; families submit images of missing loved ones. The system scans a national database for matches, while QR pendants help identify those found wandering.
🏷️ In China, the jurisdictions of Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong (the Greater Bay Area - GBA) are teaming up to deliver integrated aged care across borders. With ageing populations on the rise, the GBA is blending healthcare policies, financial tools and new tech like VR to support older citizens. A report by EY highlights both promise and pitfalls—while collaboration is growing, legal hurdles and limited pension uptake remain. The GBA’s approach could offer valuable lessons for Australia and beyond.
🛡️ As AI tools like ChatGPT and Otter.ai become workplace staples, experts warn of seven serious security risks. These include privacy breaches, legal compliance issues, hallucinated facts, bias in outputs, prompt injection attacks, IP infringement, and the ever-present threat of user error. Using personal accounts, uploading sensitive documents, or relying on AI without checks can lead to breaches or legal trouble. Stay informed and use enterprise accounts where possible.
📊 A reminder that AI in Aged Care Workgroup’s free online session on 17 July will walk you through a framework for responsible AI use in your aged care organisation. All attendees get a customisable AI policy template and step-by-step guide. With over half of workers misusing AI, now’s the time to build internal safeguards.
COMMUNITY
🌈 Integrating tech (and imagination) at St. Anna’s

On my second visit to St. Anna’s Residential Care Facility, I met with Amanda Birkin (CEO), Athin Christou (Manager of Wellness and Technology), and Ross Dellow from Omni-Health to explore how the facility is integrating new technologies.
St. Anna’s uses Omni-Health’s robots to support daily operations and engage residents. A cleaning robot is already in service, and a second robot—Temi—moves through the facility announcing upcoming activities and encouraging participation. During my visit, Temi was actively promoting an art session.
The facility has also introduced a monthly storytelling series featuring Gladys and Pearl—two fictional characters imagined as long-time residents of St. Anna’s. Each story, written by Amanda with the help of ChatGPT, follows their themed adventures around the facility and beyond. Light-hearted and tailored to the seasons, the stories are now a regular part of the newsletter and a familiar reference point in resident conversations. (This inspired the interactive game I presented earlier in the newsletter).
It was great to see how technology and creativity are being combined to enhance daily life and foster connection at St. Anna’s—thank you for having me.
I'm not here to hype AI. I'm here to help you understand it, use it, and learn as it evolves. Whether you're testing a new tool, using it to lighten your workload, or keeping pace with the changes, I hope you found something here worth your time.
Feel free to forward this to your network or share it with your team.
See you next Tuesday,
George
